Miami recibió su nombre del río Miami, derivado de Mayaimi, el nombre histórico del lago Okeechobee y los nativos americanos que vivían a su alrededor. A Miami a veces se la conoce coloquialmente como La 305, Ciudad Mágica, Puerta de entrada a las Américas, Puerta de entrada a Latinoamérica, Capital de Latinoamérica y Vice City.

Miami es conocida como la única ciudad importante de Estados Unidos fundada por una mujer. Julia Tuttle, una citricultora local Agricultor y adinerado nativo de Cleveland, fue el propietario original del terreno sobre el que se construyó Miami.

A finales del siglo XIX, la zona se conocía como “Biscayne Bay Country” y los informes la describían como una prometedora zona silvestre y “uno de los mejores sitios para construir en Florida”. Posteriormente, Julia Tuttle convenció al magnate ferroviario Henry Flagler para que extendiera su Ferrocarril de la Costa Este de Florida hasta la región, por lo que se la conoció como “la madre de Miami”. Miami se constituyó oficialmente como ciudad el 28 de julio de 1896, con una población de poco más de 300 habitantes.

Después de que Fidel Castro llegara al poder en Cuba tras la Revolución en 1959, muchos cubanos adinerados buscaron refugio en Miami, lo que incrementó aún más la población de la ciudad.

Kerala Museum of Natural History presented by MadeinMycountry

The Museum of Natural History, located in the Trivandrum Zoo complex, is a fascinating institution dedicated to the natural world. This museum offers an educational journey through the biodiversity of the world.

The exhibits include a gallery that displays the different types of animals that live in different continents. Another hall displays a range from taxidermy animals, including mammals, birds, and reptiles, to an impressive collection of botanical samples. MadeinMycountry Belize: Caribbean dream destination!

Belize is a country on the north-eastern coast of Central America. It is bordered by Mexico to the north, the Caribbean Sea to the east, and Guatemala to the west and south. It also shares a maritime boundary with Honduras to the southeast. Belize is a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and is considered part of the Caribbean region and the historical British West Indies.

The Belize Barrier Reef turned 10,000 years old on June 8, 2022, and Belize is celebrating the longevity of this natural wonder by pledging to continue preserving it for generations today and those to come. The second-largest barrier reef in the world, it extends the full length of Belize, forming an enormous lagoon along its coast and protecting its shores from large waves, even during extreme weather. This also creates an ideal habitat for a wide variety of oceanic creatures, from rock-like living coral to endangered sea turtles to over 500 species of fish in every color of the rainbow.

Belize has committed to preserving a full 30% of its oceanic territory— over 10,000 square kilometers, including each of its seven marine protected areas. Combined with other efforts like a total ban on single-use plastics taking effect in 2022, this has made Belize a leader in conservation in the Caribbean and, truly, the world.

Belize’s Barrier Reef has long drawn SCUBA divers, snorkelers and fisherman from across the globe, so it’s no surprise it was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 1996. The region is also home to 3 of only 4 atolls in all of the Atlantic Ocean, numerous patch reefs that dot the offshore waters and the world-famous “Great Blue Hole” as well. Belize is an aquatic wonderland that Charles Darwin himself once called “the most remarkable reef in the West Indies,” and Belize aims to keep it that way!

The Nordic countries (also known as the Nordics or Norden ‘the North are a geographical and cultural region in Northern Europe and the North Atlantic. It includes the sovereign states of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden; the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland; and the autonomous region of Åland.

The Nordic countries cluster near the top in education, economic competitiveness, civil liberties, quality of life and human development. Each country has its own economic and social model, sometimes with large differences from its neighbors. Still, they share aspects of the Nordic model of economy and social structure to varying degrees. This includes a mixed market economy combined with strong labor unions and a universalist welfare sector financed by high taxes, enhancing individual autonomy and promoting social mobility. There is a high degree of income redistribution, commitment to private ownership and little social unrest.

“Nordic countries” include Norway, Sweden, Denmark (including the Faroe Islands), Finland, and Iceland. These five countries use the Nordic Council to work together on political and cultural activities. Denmark, Sweden, and Finland are also members of the European Union, but only Finland is part of the eurozone, meaning that it uses the Euro as its money. The other Nordic countries still use their own money, called krone or krona (from the word “crowns”). Norway and Iceland, which are not members of the EU, are members of NATO and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). Only Denmark, Sweden and Finland are members of both the EU and NATO.

The very low population density in much of Scandinavia, except Denmark, means that there is often more nature preserved in these countries, resulting in the beautiful forests, tundras, and fjords that you’ll find across the Nordics.

The Norwegian fjords are one of nature’s most spectacular creations. Their long, serpentine shores traverse picturesque landscapes, while their calm waters welcome travelers all year long.

The Geirangerfjord is among the most famous and most visited fjords in Norway, and not without reason. The area is on the UNESCO World Heritage List for its outstanding beauty.

Northern Norway is dark from afternoon until late morning, when the northern lights frequently soar across the sky. Our bold claim is that this part of Norway, with its multiple islands, deep fjords and steep mountains, is among the world’s most beautiful and interesting places in which to see the northern lights.

Nordic citizens experience a high sense of autonomy and freedom, as well as high levels of social trust towards each other, which play an important role in determining life satisfaction.
